After being found guilty of tax evasion two years ago, it looks like Wesley Snipes’ court appeals have been turned down for good. The long two year courtroom drama has supposedly ended, and a judge has reportedly ordered Wesley Snipes to surrender and turn himself in to begin serving his 3 year sentence for tax evasion. As we understand it, the judge, U.S District Judge Terrell Hodges, wrote this in his ruling: “He has had a full, fair and thorough review of his conviction and sentence by the Court of Appeal; and he has had a full, fair and thorough review of his present claims, during all of which he has remained at liberty”.
Reportedly, the 3 year sentence comes after Wesley Snipes was convicted of 3 misdemeanor counts of willfully and unlawfully failing to file tax returns, which is said to have resulted in a tax debt of over 7 million dollars in back taxes. Daniel Meachum, Wesley Snipes’ attorney, said that the sentencing was unexpected and shocking.
“It is just shocking. Wesley is very disappointed, but is staying strong and positive,” says Daniel Meachum in a released statement.
As for when Wesley Snipes plans to turn himself in to begin serving his 3 year sentence…? His attorney tells E! that Wesley Snipes has not yet received a “self-surrender date or facility to report to”, and he is working very hard to keep Wesley from ever having to do so.
