After ten years together, it looks like Latin pop star Shakira and longtime boyfriend, who is said to have negotiated her recording and performance contract with Live Nation, attorney Antonio de la Rua have called it quits- Romantically. On her blog, Shakira, who once talked about having kids with Antonio, has revealed that sometimes in a relationship there is too much at stake to just call it quits, and things may not really be over for her just yet. “During our almost 11 years together we have loved each other deeply, taken care of each other and stood by one another. They (the past 11 years) have been the most wonderful years of our lives, and thanks to that love and the respect that we share for one another we have been an exceptional couple and partners. However, since August 2010, we made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship,” writes Shakira.
So Shakira and Antonio de la Rua, who have been dating since 2000, have made a mutual decision to take a break romantically, but not as [business] partners. It’s hard to really call it quits, even for celebs, when your romantic relationship is wrapped in business! The pop singer continued to vent on her blog saying:
“We view this period of separation as temporary and as a time of individual growth as we continue to be partners in our business and professional lives”.
No further details were provided about the nature of their break up since Antonio de la Rua continues to help Shakira with her business. Again, just last year, Antonio de la Rua helped Shakira make a deal with Live Nation for a touring and recording contract. Shakira and Antonio de la Rua say they do not want to be interviewed during this sensitive time in their lives.
