After his recent diplomatic trip to Africa this January, it looks as if George Clooney got more than he bargained for. Reportedly, 49-year-old George Clooney, who was said to have been in Sudan on behalf of supportive efforts to prevent another genocide, contracted Malaria. Thankfully, Clooney’s rep says that the actor is fine.
“George is completely over the Malaria he contracted while in the Sudan during the first week in January. This was his second bout with it. This illustrates how with the proper medication the most lethal condition in Africa, can be reduced to a bad ten days instead of a death sentence.”
According to the World Health Organization’s website, “Malaria is defined as a parasite that is transmitted via mosquito bites that infect the liver and eventually all of your body’s red blood cells”. Fortunately with modern technology having an impact on medicine, the disease can be aggressively treated, and even prevented in most cases.
George Clooney will recover and should be back in the states. Last we heard, George Clooney was scheduled to make an appearance on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight.
