Nicolas Cage got himself in a whole mess of trouble on Saturday, and the evening of events played out just like a movie. Note: Domestic violence is not a laughing matter, but an actor seemingly jumping into character and running from the cops is quite amusing.
Nicolas Cage was arrested in New Orleans where he was on location for an upcoming film. The 47-year-old Snake Eyes and Leaving Las Vegas star was taken in after getting into an argument with wife Alice Kim Cage, said to have turned physical when Nicolas grabbed her arm. At the end of the night, Nicolas Cage was taken into custody and was supposedly charged with domestic violence and disturbing the peace.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, “Cage and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting. She disagreed and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address. There was no visible signs of injury on his wife’s arm.”
An eyewitness says, “His wife was trying to persuade him from disturbing the elderly couple who do in fact live in that house.”
The police also added, “The actor began striking vehicles”. Then, like in a movie, we heard Nicolas cage took off running, attempts to leave in a cab, the officer catches up and orders him out of the cab, Nicolas starts yelling and he’s arrested. The reason for the argument in the first place? Like Nicolas Cage’s Leaving Las Vegas character, Ben Sanderson, Nicolas was “heavily intoxicated” and hummm… a bit confused.
Word is, part 1 of this Nicolas Cage movie ended after Nicolas chats it up with the men in blue at the New Orleans Police Department and was never placed in a cage, later to be released after Dog the Bounty Hunter comes to his rescue.
Nicolas Cage and Alice Kim married in 2004 and have one son together, 5-year-old Kal-El. Nicolas Cage is due back in NOLA for his court date, Thursday, May 31, 2011.
