After deciding to get help for an eating disorder and cutting, it looks like going back to Disney as the star of Sonny with a Chance is not be the best idea for Demi Lovato. According to a released statement, 18-year-old Demi Lovato has decided to quit the hit show, Sonny With A Chance, saying “She will take this time to pursue her music.” Without the pressure of being in front of a camera, Demi says it will be better for her recovery.
“Being in front of a camera will makes me nervous,” says Demi Lovato.
In the released statement Demi Lovato adds, “It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music. It’s kind of sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended but there couldn’t be a better time for me to move on.”
First Class Fashionista helped to announce the premiere of Sonny with a Chance in 2009 and we’re really sad to see Demi Lovato go. But, the show will go on. Word is, Disney has made the decision to reinvent the show and call it So Random!, which is said to be scheduled to premiere in June.
Disney released a statement supporting Demi Lovato’s decision to leave the show for the better of her recovery, saying “We respect Demi’s decision to focus full-time on her music and not immediately return to her acting career. She is a talented young woman and our hearts are with her as she continues to take action to improve her health and bounce back from adversity.”
Demi and her Sonny with a Chance fans may be sad about the sudden turn of events, but a healthier Demi is looking forward and says she’s excited to see where her music will take her.
We also respect Demi’s decision to get healthy and become a better Demi Lovato. We love her and wish the best of the best wishes for this child-star.
