Teen Mom Amber Portwood Hospitalized After Trying to Kill Herself?

Teen Mom Amber Portwood Hospitalized After Alleged Suicide Attempt

Amber Portwood, from Teen Mom, has definitely had more than her share of troubles. She first came under fire when MTV aired an episode showing Amber hitting and punching the father of her child, Gary Shirley, while the couple’s 2-year-old, Leah, was in the room.

In October, headlines read “Teen Mom Star Amber Portwood Domestic Violence Investigation”. Amber Portwood was being investigated, and was facing a misdemeanor charge of battery and assault, and an even more serious charge of domestic violence in front of a child under the age of 14-years-old.

Now, after an ongoing on-again, off-again relationship with Gary and losing primary custody of Leah, Amber Portwood was hospitalized yesterday for allegedly trying to commit suicide. According to Star Magazine and other news outlets who have followed-up on the story, Amber Portwood was arguing on the phone with Gary Shirley and is said to have threatened to kill herself. Gary Shirley then decided to call a family member who called 911. Sadly, Amber was found in her home in Anderson, Indiana slipping in and out of conscientiousness. Sources say, Amber Portwood took some pills and had a rope around her neck.

MTV released a statement saying, “Our understanding is that Amber has been admitted to a local hospital but we have not been able to confirm the accuracy of any reports being circulating and are waiting to further details.”

The best of the best wishes to Amber Portwood– A teen mom who needs to get healthy, so her daughter can have a promising future. Truth is, I’m not sure if a show like “Teen Mom” is actually helping these young girls. I’ve seen Reality TV destroy long-lasting marriages.
