Demi Lovato Talks Eating Disorders, Self-mutilation and Rehab with Ryan Seacrest
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest a few days ago, former Sonny with a Chance star Demi Lovato held nothing back as she faced her demons and inspired her fans. Back from a very rough three months in rehab, Lovato said “I try to create positive energy wherever I go.”
It took a while for her to admit she needed help because she said “it got to a point where I was lying to everybody…about just eating and about being happy.”
The 18-year-old star, who has a “stay” and “strong” tattoo over her self-mutilations scars on her wrists, said her new single, “Skyscraper” is about overcoming issues. “No matter how hard your rock bottom is, you can rise above it and you can come back,” says Demi Lovato.
Demi Lovato says she feels there is a lot of pressure these days. “Like, I feel like I live in a city where no woman eats.” Fashionistas, I’m sure you’re all at least aware of that kind of pressure, whether it it affects you or not. For those of you who are struggling with it– any degree of an eating disorder or self-mutilation– Lovato encourages you to get help.
“With my problems, I was able to see that if I’m able to share it with people maybe it’ll help that one girl who would end up killing herself from the disease that she would eventually have… I want them to know that you just need to tell someone. It’s gonna be okay and you can make it through it—I am living proof of that,” Demi Lovato tells Ryan Seacrest and listeners of the Ryan Seacrest radio show.
