Happy Sumo Restaurant and Sushi Bar Review

Happy Sumo Review

Recently on a girl’s night out with my friends, I decided to do a classic sushi night. After hearing wonderful things from a few of our other friends, we chose to go to The Happy Sumo.

Entering the restaurant, I couldn’t help but notice the beautiful fountain behind the front desk. I instantly knew “The Happy Sumo” experience would be Zen. The dark lighting and black decor created a very hip vibe, and the bar was lit underneath, giving an illusion of a floating appearance. The booths seated my friends and me very comfortably, and we were handed a large menu of several Japanese dishes and, of course, sushi.

Every dish is prepared by hand and each roll of sushi is made to order– You can even watch them make it! There are several house rolls on the menu, and although I am likely to go for the spicy tuna roll, I decided to order out of my usual. I got what is called the Sunset Roll, which includes crab, avocado and salmon with hints of lemon and green onions. This roll was beyond anything I expected! The flavors meshed classically together and were perfectly rounded. After trying my friends’ rolls, I decided “The Happy Sumo” needed to be a regular girl’s night out.

“The Happy Sumo” also offers tempura, salads, Japanese seafood and a variety of desserts, all of which are as delicious as the next. If you live in Colorado or Utah, you must try “The Happy Sumo”!
