E! News Anchor Giuliana Rancic Reveals She Has Breast Cancer

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and women (and men), including celebrities or public figures, are coming forward to share their stories–In the power of a story lies not only the hope for a cure, but for prevention.

Yesterday morning, during an interview with Good Morning America, E! News Anchor Giuliana Rancic broke the silence and revealed she is battling breast cancer.

Giuliana and husband Bill Rancic have chronicled their life and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) preparations in hopes to get pregnant on their reality series, “Giuliana and Bill”. This horrible discovery came shortly after.

Giuliana opened up saying, “Through my attempts to get pregnant through IVF, we sadly found that I have early stages of breast cancer. It’s been a shock,” Giuliana Rancic.

The shocking news came during Giuliana Rancic’s third round of IVF treatments. According to reports, Giuliana’s Doctor recommended she get a mammogram to ensure that there were absolutely no cancerous cells in her body. After reluctantly resisting, Giuliana Rancic gave in to her doctors recommendation.

The following day Giuliana was told that they had found something, and was advised not to attempt to get pregnant until the results were conclusive.

After being informed that the diagnosis was accurate, Giuliana Rancic shared her feelings and experience after receiving this unbelievably hard news.

“Its what you expect, but so much more, it was like, incredible instant sobbing and the world just crashed down around me. I couldn’t believe it – 36 years old, no family history? I couldn’t believe it,” says Giuliana.

The segment of Good Morning America showed a powerful and very much real women. It truly expressed the importance of checking for breast cancer, and that it’s curable if caught early enough.

Giuliana Rancic is determined to fight this cancer and is sending an influential message to young women about Breast Cancer. She  will undergo surgery this week and continue with six weeks of radiation treatments.
