Strong contrasts were thriving in Prada’s Fall 2012 collection at Milan’s fashion week. It’s not just the colors and shapes of the fabric that are contrasting, the styling featured models wearing mismatched hair extensions flowing down their shoulders and back with wildly vibrant eye make-up also stood out.
Orange, blue and forest green graphic prints screamed seventy’s retro but the lines were modern, chic, and structured. Long jackets—with sleeves and without—and ankle pants are seen in most looks, even with skirts. What I like most is Miuccia Prada also used some interesting gem hardware to accentuate solid colored pieces and create an edge while still remaining feminine.
The styles and prints of this collection are not all that make this collection interesting, however. The accessories are a breath of fresh air all on their own. The models waltzed down the runway on what appears to be a new take on the platform pump…flaired, slightly with a chunky rubber looking base. The beauties also carried an eclectic variety of different handbag shapes and sizes. My favorite is a blue and white patterned structured satchel. It’s fun and flirty while still modern and chic!
