Fallene Wells Modern Nouveau Fashion Show Review

First of all, let me introduce you to local Denver designer Fallene Wells. At the young age of 11, she fell in love with design. She would sketch out her future collections from head to toe. As an adult, Fallene gained recognition for her designs from her time spent on season 9 of Project Runway. Since 2007, to help artists like herself get the recognition they deserve, she has successfully produced fashion shows called Forever Darling. With her Kickstarter project, Wells has established her first collection to be produced in Denver, Colorado.

Fallene is also a talented hair stylist. In 2003, she enrolled in Cosmetology school. Currently, she is on the American Board of Certified Colorists, through ABCH. Fallene believes it is important to have fun in life and to live it to the fullest. She has so much passion to fuel her goals as a stylist and a designer. Fallene wants to help people find their own original style and feel great being themselves. She knows that hair and fashion are not a “one-size-fits-all”, and that’s why she enjoys helping to create the outer expression of a personality.

The Modern Nouveau: Fall Friperie fashion show, produced and directed by Fallene Wells, was beautifully done and displayed real Denver fashion! The show was held Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at the Walker Fine Art Gallery. The presentation itself was unique and unlike any fashion show First Class Fashionista has ever seen.

Modern Nouveau showcased Wells’ Fall 1920s inspired collection. It started with an empty stage containing four doll stands. As the models walked onto the stage, they each took their place on a designated pedestal. Followed by posing and garment exchanges, the models showcased, with ease, how the garments could be mixed and matched to fulfill the needs of an entire wardrobe. The design details within her garments consist of wide leg flared striped pants, sheer black patterned ¾ sleeve shirts with center front buttons, the same sheer black patterned fabric within an above knee dress cinched at the waist, vests, ½ scale jackets, peter pan collars, pleated yoke skirts, gathered puff shorts that hit just above the knee, ribbon bow ties attached to shirts, and inverted pleated skirts. The colors within the Modern Nouveau fashion show were neutrals of white, cream white, gray, and black. Fashion colors showcased within the show were of chestnut brown, olive green, teal, golden yellow, mustard, royal purple, and sunset blue.

During the event, Fallene had a clothing rack full of garments that could be taken home. The garments for purchase were well-made with their own hang tags and garment labels. The pieces were priced from $60-$150 and was 10% off, which made shoppers go crazy. A lot of fashionable ladies wanted to take home a well-crafted Fallene Wells garment! Other merchandise available for purchase during the show was from Wondersketch, Girl with the Curl, RU Fabricates, Fern and Sprout, Bellissima Jewelry Design, Wren Bird Arts, and Kitty Mae Millinery & Accessories. Denver Design Incubator was also there to share their knowledge of the fashion industry, and help local designers move their fashion forward.

Drinks and hand-dipped cake balls from Natalie Ferguson was also available for the enjoyment of guests. The music was by DJ Matthew Brown. The models’ hair was done by Estevan from The Parlour, and Fallene made a special thanks to her helpful interns at the end of the show. Fallene Wells’ fall presentation was literally a work of art, showcasing her entrance as a solo designer within the fashion industry of Denver, Colorado.
