On Thursday, September 20th, the historical Grant-Humphreys Mansion in Denver, CO, hosted a successful Christian Dior inspired Barrera International Preview & Trunk Show. It was truly a grande experience. The sold out, highly anticipated event celebrated the one year anniversary of local designer Juan Jimenez’s official launch of the label just a year ago. The Grants loved to entertain influentials, so the Mansion was the perfect setting for the Johnson & Whales University, Fashion Merchandising and Retail Marketing student to make his first solo presentation.
The house was filled with beautiful, creative people. With fashion lovers from all over the Denver Metro Area present and seated in either the Mansion’s reception, parlor, dining, library or sun room, the show commenced. Models made their way down a grande staircase designed specifically for making an extravagant entrance. Wearing the designer’s hand-cut and assembled garments, made with fabrics imported from France and Italy, the catwalk began at the foot of the stairs in the Mansion’s main reception room and meandered through the house, unveiling more than 40 Barrera International Spring 2013 looks.
Looking back on his travels and recent trip to Europe, Jimenez said his collection was inspired by his extended visit to Paris, France, the city of love. As with any event, the participant and the spectator is looking to experience something new, and we did. From the historical mansion setting to fabrics like chiffon, georgette and jersey in gold, silver and cobalt blue with embroidered reverse sequins and Swarovski crystals, I am sure the Mile High City will be talking about the Barrera International Preview & Trunk Show for a while. A portion of the proceeds benefited SafeHouse Denver, serving victims of domestic violence and their children since 1977.
Enjoy the show for the first time or again! Pictures below.
