How to Wear Denim and Chambray

We’ve heard the term denim and we’ve heard the term chambray, and often we use them interchangeably. But guess what? They are not!

*Chambray is a lightweight, plain weave fabric, with a colored warp and white weft.

*Denim is a twill-weave fabric made with different colored yarns in the warp and the weft.

We use them interchangeably because there are a variety of ways to wear them and often they can be worn together. Here are some suggestions on how to wear denim and chambray.

1. First, the so-called fashion faux pas of wearing denim on denim has seen better days. So try this: pair a light denim top with dark bottoms.

2. Try a chambray dress and pair it with a belt and desert booties.

3. Last, let’s talk about my two favorite jean styles and how to dress them up. Okay, I’ll be honest, I hate wearing jeans but I’ve realized jeans are a western essential. So I’ve found a way to make them work. My first favorite is the boyfriend jean. With the right pair you can be comfortable, cute and very 90s.

High-rise jeans are a must. They have the ability to take your outfit back in time and give it a vintage feel.

To complete the look, add a blazer and some heels. By doing this, the look remains casual; yet fashion forward.
