The Grammys is my absolute favorite awards show, and I am an awards show junkie. I have been looking forward to this year’s Grammys for the past month and, after watching it Sunday night, I can say it outdid my expectations! I always like to imagine what I would wear if I were one of the celebrities on the red carpet, and from the outfits I saw tonight, I would have plenty of amazing options.
A trend I saw a lot of on this year’s red carpet was cutouts. This trend was featured on many of the dresses, but each star incorporated the look in a different way. Along with cutouts, there were thigh high slits, lace and mesh.
My absolute favorite look of the night went to my number one girl crush, Miss Rihanna.
RiRi looked absolutely stunning in a bright red Azzedine Alaia dress, Neil Lane jewelry, and Manolo Blahnik shoes. Her new golden-brown curled hair do and bright red lips and nails tied the flawless look together perfectly. My jaw literally dropped when I saw her on the red carpet, and her performance of ‘Stay” along with her help with the Bob Marley tribute sounded just as amazing as she looked.
Another jaw dropping moment for me was when I was watching the red carpet pre-show, was seeing Beyonce. Queen B switched it up and wore a graphic black and white jumpsuit by Osman Studio. This was a more toned down look for B, but her sleek pony and red lip tied the look together and made her look extremely classy.
Jennifer Lopez looks amazing for her age, and she knows when to flaunt it. Channeling her inner Angelina Jolie, Jlo decided to take a risk with an extremely high leg cutout in her Anthony Vaccarello gown and, in my opinion, the risk paid off. Since her dress was such a bold choice, Jlo kept it simple with a tight bun and a couple of bangles and rings.
Kelly Rowland tackled two trends in one, wearing a black Georges Chakra gown with geometric cutouts filled in with mesh down the front and sides. This style dress flaunted Ms. Rowland’s toned figure perfectly and her updo showed off the gowns interesting neckline.
Although many ladies chose to dress up for the Grammys, I personally loved that Kaley Cuoco took a more casual approach. Just because her ensemble was casual, in no way means that it lacked pizazz. Kaley wore leather pants with an embroidered Amen tuxedo jacket, a Stark “Brilliance” clutch, and simple black pumps. This is a look I would definitely wear to a red carpet event.
Taylor Swift embraced the cutout trend, as well as the high leg slit trend. The country singer, who opened the show with her hit “We Are Never Getting Back Together”, wore a cream J Mendel gown with silver straps.
Although there were many amazing looks, these were my favorite of the night. What do you think, fellow fashionistas? Do you agree with my picks, or did you go in a different direction? Leave a comment below!
