Academy Awards Fashion Through the Years

Rewind 84 years to 1929. In Hollywood a luncheon of 270 celebrities was held at Hotel Roosevelt to award 15 golden statues for achievements in film. Actors, directors, writers, producers, musicians and everyone in between has been gracing the red carpet every year since to form the Academy Awards; or as it’s known today, The Oscars. I love film and I have a great appreciation for the art and all the work that it takes to entertain, but lets be honest here…I truly look forward to the fashion. Awards shows provide celebrities a chance to make statements and show their creativity in another light, and allow hundreds of designers to model all of their hard work and, sometimes, one of a kind pieces.

This year I was going to write a post about my predictions for this year’s red carpet, but it hit me…Why not study all of the best dresses that have walked the carpet from the beginning? And this, fellow fashionistas, is a compilation of 25 of my all time favorite Oscar Red Carpet moments, beginning in 1934.

Who knew Gwyneth Paltrow has rocked so many fabulous red carpet looks, and Cate Blanchett…another show stopper. My five favorite looks of all time would have to be, Audrey in 1954, Lauren Hutton in 1980,┬áMarion Cotillard in 2008, Cate Blanchett in 2011 and, of course, Gwyneth in 2012. Can’t wait to see who makes it on my list this year!

Until next time,

Chelsey
