Oscars 2013 Inspired Looks For Everyday Life

Don’t get me wrong, I love reading what everyone has to say about the red carpet moments, Fashion Police is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. But when I truly think about it, what does it do for me? In today’s day and age, we do things for benefit and purpose. That is why, after I wrote my post about my favorite looks, I decided to find dresses that I feel have some elements of what the best dressed nominees were wearing…and you can buy them straight from here! I wanted to mix the element of pleasure (celeb fashion observing) with benefit (style tips and inspiration). Below are my favorite Oscars 2013 looks (My Best Dressed) with names and designers from top to bottom and left to right.

Oscars Best Dresses

Naomi Watts in Armani Prive, Stacy Keibler in Naaem Khan, Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab, Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture, Samantha Barks in Valentino, and Halle Berry in Versace.

Now here are two items for each woman that I think draw similarities to their beautiful looks. At first I was looking for gowns and formal dresses, but instead I decided to choose practical pieces that any girl could wear to lots of places and events. These women choose these dresses for a reason, so why not incorporate some of their features into your personal style!?

Naomi Watts:

The most beautiful blend of sequins and cutouts that I have seen all year. She looks flawless and so Hollywood Glam.

CUT OUTS! Since they are all the rage this season, especially on the red carpet, Nasty Gal is your go to shop for this trend. Naomi figured out how to do this look in such a classically beautiful way, and she did it delicately. This dress from NG is a little more blunt, but with the right shoe (like a bootie or even combat) you can make this look sexy and carefree. Confidence is always key.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this dress. You may think it’s just a night on the town sort of thing… but no ma’am. Pair this perfectly mermaid  midi with some camel or beige pumps, slip a vintage tee over the top, knot that baby up, then finish it with a blazer and some round sunnies and you’ve got yourself a fashion forward look for the day.

Stacy Keibler:

First of all, I would like to bring attention to this neckline… my favorite thing right now. So flattering and so fresh. Stacy is such a bombshell, but she always modestly hones in on it and graces the carpet with class. This dress has edge, but the perfect amount. Everything from the beading, to the cascading bodice screams perfection.

This dress is the perfect color and beading style to mimic Stacy’s in an everyday light. The other great thing about it, is the fact that it comes in white (for added variety). I love the baby-doll structure because it balances out the length and lack of sleeve.

Once again, Nasty Gal always being on top of their trend game, has plenty of these Jewel or Illusion necklines, and this second dress is the perfect way to translate that into your spring wardrobe.

Sandra Bullock:

Sandra Bullock is a lace sensation. Since spring is near, I decided to give you a little bit more color. Sandra’s dress and color is absolutely perfect for the occasion, but sometimes when you use black lace, it can look too night-y. If that’s what you’re looking for then great! I just wanted to mix up the options. Sandra’s dress shows the perfect amount of skin, demonstrates the right amount of modesty and fits her body like a glove. A++

Although not fully lace, this dress pulls parts from Sandra’s. Perfect for the daytime and perfect for summer, this maxi has the same fit and amount of sexy and modesty as our fabulous movie stars.

With a little bit more lace, this dress shows the same kind of peek-a-poo skin as Bullocks red carpet look. Beautifully flowy and just the right color for spring.

Charlize Theron:

A vision in white…and not the bride kind. My mouth dropped open when I saw her come out in this. Perfectly… PER.FECT.LY. tailored, crisp, vivid color and a to-die-for peplum, Charlize was rocking a show-stopper.

This little number looks almost identical to the red carpet look. Same color, neckline and waist. The draped sleeves and the shortened hem makes this piece perfect for any fashionista off the carpet.

Peplum Mesh Romper
Peplum Mesh Romper

I own this wonderful piece of clothing, and dare I say it’s one of my favorite owned items. With a little spin on what Charlize is wearing, this romper speaks confidence and fashion forward. Similar neckline (just below the mesh) and that infamous peplum, this piece is the perfect way to mimic Theron in your own way.

Samantha Barks:

While watching Les Miserables, I kept wondering who the GORGEOUS girl playing the background role was. I seriously stared at her every time she sang and wondered why that was the first time I was seeing her. Well fashionistas, she proved her undying beauty once again on the red carpet. I am a sucker for plunging necklines. You have to be careful though, if you have a larger chest. I, however, was not so blessed in that area, so I do this look a lot (with a more modest bottom half of course). I loved the simplicity and effortlessness of her look and she looked INCREDIBLE.

ASOS makes an almost exact replica of this look for a fraction of the price. Just the right amount of sexy here.

With this different color, this dress is perfect for daytime if you wear a sandal or some Chucks. Add the tights like above and some booties, and you can wear it at night.

Halle Berry:

Last, but certainly not least, Halle may have been my best dressed. This dress was the perfect balance of every red carpet necessary element. It also doesn’t hurt that she is implementing my favorite 2013 trend; the suit look. Varied stripes, black and gold, plunging neckline, perfect length, and just-right sleeve choice, were a few of the things that made Halle look so flawless.

Stripes, gold, neckline…check. This dress infuses all the right elements of Halle’s Versace look into your go-to night out number. This piece is obviously on my NG want list.

I have yet to add an office, or work world dress yet, so here you go. Not only great for a meeting, but this dress  can double as a cocktail number or your go-to happy hour look. Paired with a colored clutch and some strappy heels, this look takes what we love from Halle’s to our everyday lives with poise and smarts.

Hope you guys loved all of my suggestions and advice!

Until next time,
