I’m sure all of our fashionista readers have heard about this new fragrance from Just Cavalli called “Just Cavalli for Her”. The more affordable end of Roberto Cavalli’s luxurious line is called Just Cavalli. The new trend in advertisements is an extended commercial/ video campaign. The campaign for this fragrance involved the recently released video, and it was STUNNING. To the fashion community Roberto Cavalli has always represented the luxury an boldness that much of the fashion industry craves. Most know for his avid use of animal prints, Cavalli has certainly made a name for himself within a worldwide market. For those of us that can’t afford his masterful creations, he then released a more affordable line called “Just Cavalli.” And now Cavalli has stepped into the world of mass fashion.
Anyway, this video blew my mind. It is nothing short of a perfect representation of Roberto Cavalli’s aesthetic. The flirty, sexy and slightly vintage feel of the commercial really was quite impressive. The video accurately portrays the scents of the perfume almost perfectly. The fun flirting happening throughout the course of the video play to the ideal of youth, while the black and white aspect of the video almost read as old glamour, beauty. The element that threw me off was the tattoos. Cavalli as a designer has always been one to push the envelope when it comes to his designs, and these tattoos of the Just Cavalli logo really slap you in the face with the Avant-Garde aspect of this perfume. The lovely and forever youthful Georgia May Jagger models in this ad. She, although not conventionally beautiful, brings all three elements of Cavalli’s aesthetic and the fragrance: youth, beauty and power.
The fragrance itself has been blended with three key “notes.” For those of you who don’t know the fragrance lingo, let me catch you up, a note is just like it sounds. It is a fraction of the scent and several notes create a full scent. Some people in the world, perfume professionals, can pick up on each note. The fragrance starts off with a hint Neroli which is floral oil found in the blossoms of the orange tree. Then layered over that note is the scent of the Tahitian Tiare flower creating a sweet and floral scent. To layer the scents a little bit of woodsy scent is added in palisander wood. The edition of the palisander really classes the fragrance up. The perfect blending of these three elements create a smell worthy of the Cavalli name. Cavalli’s image has always portrayed beauty and youth with a touch of the primal animal prints that bring a sense of power to his designs and collections. This scent is no different. The Floral notes create the youthful beauty while the edgy scent of the palisander brings the scent up to a primal almost earthy feel. The bottle design reflects the ideas of youth, beauty, and power, with the pastel pink stripe and the champagne color of the perfume itself and the hint of pink, snake print that accents the bottle create and maintain the Cavalli way. The colors, by the way, almost directly correlate with Just Cavalli’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection, this cohesion is key!
