Red Ball Guests
For those who don’t know, the Denver Red Ball aims to bring awareness to World AIDS Day, while raising funds to support the Colorado AIDS Project. We ask you to take this opportunity to learn the facts about HIV/AIDS and spread your awareness!
Red Ball Auction
The show began with a tasteful charity auction with all proceeds being donated to the Colorado AIDS Project. The auctioneer was surprisingly impressive and did his very best to raise the stakes for each prize. The auction prizes included a giant Elton John painting and signed record by E.J. himself, an autographed guitar by every band member from U2, another signed guitar except this one had a hand-drawn flower by Taylor Swift on it too, and the last prize featured a one-of-a-kind dress by Gino Velardi with a full service package for a spa and make-over treatment, a box of wine and a gift card to Linger. All great prizes, all great reasons to share your wealth and make a contribution for World AIDS Day. This was undeniably the coolest fundraiser I’ve ever been to.
Then it was show time! Bold. Fun. Colors. Spread AIDS Awareness.
Unsurprisingly, the runway started with a bang and Red Ball yet again presented Denver with the essence of haute couture. The first round of models to hit the runway were drenched in rich saturated hues and ultimately set the tone of the show: extreme fierceness. There was a variety of appeals and styles which made for an exquisite event, adding just the right amount of taste and fashion.
The designers and their partnering salons in order, they are as follows:
D’Lola Couture and Henry’s Salon
A classic majestic collection, the stage being their kingdom. A palette of red colors, from maroon to pink to candy apple red, added complete richness to this court of royalty. Each piece more elegant than the last and finished with a grand entrance from a queen-like gown. It was as if I was literally watching a Royal Queen standing with her ladies-in-waiting. Awe-inspiring. Breathtaking. Standing Ovation.

Gino Velardi and Ted’s Hair Studio
Also rich and dramatic, a line featuring a very bold, but ladylike look with perfect eyelets of gold metal. The gold eyelet grommets were unique to each piece with some going tastefully down one side of the body, some highlighting the chest and some with hints on the legs. Each model had absolute enticing hair, probably the best in show, in my opinion. This red hot collection not only featured alluring gold peek-a-boo holes, but some styles were topped off with cool-girl
Scandalous Couture and Sparrow Stylin’ Salon
Scandalous Couture says it all. Very cheeky, to say (or show) the least. Fringe for days! Very dominating composure with a rave-like feel.

Erin Jensik and Planet Laboratories
E-Couture for an unconsumption collection (the E being not just for Erin), taking consumption only from a new perspective! Every piece was extremely intentional and well thought out, going green never gets old. Screaming read me, roll me and wear me! This Iconic eco-friendly statement was done successfully. I mean, I’d wear that baby doll dress wouldn’t you?!
Tyne Hall and Twig Salon
Featuring the ever-so popular flower crown, only this one was giant and voluptuous. This collection probably had the up-most intricate hair designs and exotic headpieces. Each of the models were dressed in cutouts of sexy, intriguing grunge and goth glamour at it’s finest. There was a sheer overlay piece that had a very goth couture statement piece worth mentioning. It was a gold chain that draped over one shoulder, hanging the same length front to back with crosses at both ends. Yep, sounds like runway fashion to me! This collection ended with a golden head of hair wrapped and braided as a goddess of her own.
Studio Yoshida and Rebelle By Tootsies Salon
So, I’ve been meaning to ask you…can I lick your face? Eye Candy Galore. Oh! And, Katy Perry called and she is definitely trying to wear that head of lickerish to her next party. Check out the pictures of sweetness and fine tailored work on the runway.
C.R. Lee and Serenity Salon
So many things to appreciate here! Velvety and sexy pieces across the board. My personal favorite piece from all of the show was this to-die-for airy jumpsuit with a very alluring low-back; delicately revealing with perfection. Sign. Me. Up. Now. An absolute must-own someday!
This collection also tossed in a Greece throwback with a white tied up tee, black leggings and red accent bag. I must also add, the plaid skirt with a black leather bra killed it in my book. The designer completed their last piece with a gold statue of liberty crown and a floor length red veil, probably a stand-up symbolism for our nation to keep the public aware of HIV/AIDS.

ODDD and Strandz Salon
An angel, barefoot and all, graced us with his presence to help fight World AIDS Day! My immediate reaction was whoa, hello naked and hi there neon jock straps! But the stage continued to welcome a gorgeous lush jungle of color and it was brought to you by yours truly, Adam and Eve: Dominatrix Style, the theme that is. So, naturally, my immediate reaction was still on point!
Infernal Contraptions and Lincoln & Dakota Salon
I happened to channel in the lyrics during this sexual piece and the tunes went a little something like this, “peculiar twerking in the mirror” and that pretty much sums up this creation of fantasy. I must admit, the first model came out and she owned it, I mean OWNED it. Her facial expressions sold the look alone, but the twirling of her magic stick didn’t hurt either. Each model had a sex toy, er, I mean a sexy hand accessory to compliment their look. These burlesque ladies rocked it in sparkly sequence, corsets, and garter belts! Too hot to handle!

Baskit and Studio: A Collective Of Stylists
Umm, no one told me there was going to be Greek Gods walking down the runway?! But okay, I’m all eyes now! These beefcake mannequins walked their confident heads high with artistic eye makeup as sexual masks, or, at least that’s what I got out of that.
James Etc. and Scarlet Salon
The couture bride collection featuring exquisite metallics, which added the perfect amount of contemporary flair. Ideal. Fancy. Pure. Stunning.
Kimono Dragons and Fleur Salon
One word: Holiday. Tis the season, you got that right! Let’s just say it was very Christmas-ie with reindeer headpieces, wide lapel jackets and a total femme style.
Red Ball Denver 2014 Kimono Dragons
Salwa Owens & Belle and Beau Salon
Stunning and beautiful, the colors said it all. Take me to the ball, please? The Red Ball in Denver to be exact! Help spread awareness and fight AIDS for World AIDS Day.
Regal Rowe and Makeup By Casandra
There was sequences and then there was an aesthetically pleasing giant bow worth a thousand words. To me, this collection screamed pretty, pretty princess in the most romantic and graceful way.
EKiZ by Carlos Melendez and Planet Laboratories
Who likes a man in destroyed denim and a sexy blazer? I do! I do! This all men’s collection took street clothes and dipped them in cutting-edge details. Pieces consisted of zipper detailing, street ruff and a dismantled style. Plus, a leather jacket! Leather is literally the perfect layering item and is a classic piece to have and to hold.
Fashion House of Rae Marie and Zandie K Salon
Really, the details in the statement necklaces said it all! Absolutely beautiful ballet skirts with floral bodices. Victorian glamour and airy elegance to the T.

Marie-Margot and Studio: A Collective Of Stylists
An entourage of delicate embellishments and very elegant pieces. Finishing the show with simplicity and classical beauty with one minor detail. 100 points if you can guess the minor detail I am referring to! It was the eyelashes! Impressively bold and definitely present. A shout out goes to the makeup artists who did not let us down one bit, not even in the last run of the show.
Red Ball Denver Marie Margot Couture
As a first time attendee, I heard the Red Ball was Denver’s biggest fashion show of the year and I must admit, I was quite impressed. From theatrical makeup and artistry to outrageous hairstyles and fashions with cutting edge collections, this fashion-forward charity event did not disappoint! I am proud to say First Class Fashionista is a sponsor of this event and I am proud to be a part of FCF.
A giant thank you also goes out to all the models for surrounding us with your saving grace, beauty, talent and tribute to world AIDS day! Another thank you goes to all those who donated or made contributions in honor of this event! Lastly, thank you for those who put time and effort into helping increase awareness of this day, we send you love.
The lives of people who have died from AIDS are not forgotten and the awareness will continue to be known by future generations. Pass it forward. Mark your calendars for next year’s event. Please support! See you there.
