New York Fashion Week Fall 2015 Trend Report

This 2015 Fall Fashion Week brought us so many new things. New venues, new directions, and new trends for the upcoming 2016 Spring/Summer season. Let’s take a look back at some of the trends that stood out most this season on the New York runways at “The Shows”!

While pink and other pastels came in a close second, orange dominated designer collections. I’m an orange lover, so I’m happy! Be it in full outfits or in pops of color, expect to see orange this next spring and summer. Victoria Beckham, Naeem Khan, and Jenny Packham all used the hue in their collections, to name a few.

Luxury Furs

While fur for summer sounds silly, fur for spring is just right. Take a look at Prabal Gurung, Michael Kors, and Jason Wu to see how to rock it for next year.

Mix and matching easy-to-wear styles is prevalent on the streets and on the runway. From chunky loose-knit sweaters and destroyed denim to unfinished edges and distressed tops, check out Alexander Wang and Kanye West’s Yeezy collections for the 411 on the trend.

Cuba opens for trade, and America responds with very Caribbean-themed garments. Floral prints, crocheting and bright citrus colors really helped me envision the summer. Dennis Basso and Angel Sanchez are examples of designers that made me crave the summer sun!

The 1970s

Silhouettes from this era are already becoming more and more common already, and they are here to stay in 2016. Culottes, bohemian maxi dresses and fringe showed up in several collections, including those of Karen Walker and Derek Lam.
